Pedorthics is the science and practice of evaluating, fabricating, and modifying orthotics and footwear to prevent, ease, or treat painful or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle caused by disease, congenital defect, overuse, or injury. Pedorthics combines knowledge of human anatomy and biomechanical evaluation.

- Assessing your feet and lower legs and providing a gait assessment (evaluating how you walk or run)
- Educating you about your foot or lower limb condition and the recommended treatment
- Providing custom-made foot orthotics or over-the-counter devices
- Professionally fitting you with orthopaedic footwear that is appropriate for your foot type and problems
- Modifying footwear to accommodate problem areas
How do Canada Certified Pedorthists differ from other footcare professionals?
Canadian Certified Pedorthists – C. Ped (C) – are one of very few healthcare professionals who are trained in the assessment of lower limb anatomy and biomechanics. They are experts in designing, fitting and modifying custom made orthotics and orthopaedic footwear.
Will my private/group insurance plan cover the cost of pedorthic services or my custom orthotics?
Many third party insurance plans have coverage for custom foot orthotics, orthopaedic footwear, modified footwear and custom footwear from Canadian Certified Pedorthists; however, every policy is different! It is best to familiarize yourself with your extended healthcare policy prior to booking any appointments.
Will Max Health Fredericton be billing for my appointment?
Max Health Fredericton will be booking your appointment(s); however, John will be invoicing and accepting payment through his personal business, Foot Health Center. You will submit a claim with your Foot Health Center invoice, paid-in-full receipt, and written referral if required to your private/group health insurance plan.
